{{DISPLAYTITLE:How to install Windows NT on MIPS in QEMU}}
[[File:1650668919_m3smGmwKPx.png|thumb]]
'''Windows NT 4''', along with Windows NT 3.51 and 3.5 can successfully run and install in QEMU's MIPS emulation. Windows NT 3.1 BSODs on setup, so it is not installable. Service Pack 1 was the last supported service pack on MIPS Windows NT 4. Currently, PowerPC and Alpha ports of Windows NT 3.x & 4 do not run in QEMU.

While these instructions are for NT 4, they will also work the same for NT 3.51 and NT 3.5

==Notes==
While it is very cool to see and play with a non x86 Windows environment, it's not very usable - programs made for x86 Windows NT do not run without wx86, and there were virtually no commercial products made for Windows NT 4 MIPS. So, it is really more of a curiosity than a usable OS.

There are no USB 1.1 drivers for Windows NT 4 MIPS, so proper mouse alignment is impossible, but is not a big deal. <s>The bigger deal comes from the insane memory leaks that QEMU MIPS has when formatting the system partition. This memory leak is actually enough to bring a server with even 64 GB of RAM down to its knees in a matter of seconds. Once you are booted into the OS, the memory leaks are no longer present.</s> ('''UPDATE''': This was fixed in QEMU 2.9.0. If you want to use this, use QEMU 2.9.0 or above.)

==Starting up==
First, download the following file and extract it somewhere: http://web.archive.org/web/20150809205748if_/http://hpoussineau.free.fr/qemu/firmware/magnum-4000/setup.zip

One of the files will be called NTPROM.RAW. Rename this to mipsel_bios.bin.

Now we're going to make a hard drive. The maximum size you can make it is 2 gigabytes, so we create the disk like this:

qemu-img create -f qcow2 ntmips.img 2G

Next, we start QEMU with the following arguments. Take note to not set the memory above 128 or 64 MB, because the Magnum machine can't run more than 128 MB of RAM.

qemu-system-mips64el -hda ntmips.img -M magnum -nic user,model=dp83932 -cdrom win_nt_4_iso.iso -m 128 -global ds1225y.filename=nvram -global ds1225y.size=8200

A break down of this command:
qemu-system-mips64el
is the name of the QEMU emulator, obviously.
-hda ntmips.img
tells the emulator to use the hard drive we just created.
-M magnum
tells QEMU to emulate the Magnum machine. There are multiple MIPS machines emulated by QEMU, you can type
-M ?
for a full list.
-nic user,model=dp83932
adds a virtual NIC (in this case, the 10 mb/s SONIC DP83932 network NIC). If you don't want internet you can remove this flag.
-cdrom win_nt_4_iso.iso
inserts a Windows NT 4 into the emulated cd-rom. If you have a physical copy of NT 4 you could change it to i.e.
-cdrom /dev/sr0
.
-m 128
sets the memory, in this case, 128 MB. And finally,
-global ds1225y.filename=nvram -global ds1225y.size=8200
adds a persistent nvram which is vital for saving the system state.

Now that all that's done, let's get the OS installed.

==Installation==
When you start the machine a problem you'll likely notice is that the date is set to the year 2033. The clock also might be set to "8:85:00", or something similar.

This is a "bug" in the emulation that can be really easily fixed. There are two ways to fix it. The first is to add something like
-rtc "base=1995-07-08T11:12:13,clock=vm"
to the QEMU command line. The second is to go to "Initialize system", "Set time", and then set the proper date. An important note: If you don't properly set the clock, Windows NT will set the date to January 1, 1601 at 12:00 AM.

Now we'll set the environment variables. Choose the following variables:

*Select monitor resolution: 1024x768 or 1280x1024
*Select floppy size: 3.5 1.44 M
*Is there a second floppy: No
*Enter SCSI Host ID (0 - 7): 7

Next, set the default environment to "Scsi hard disk".

Check the ethernet address if you want internet. Return to main menu.

Hit "Exit".

Now when it restarts, hit "Run a Program".

Type the following in:
cd:\mips\arcinst

This sets up our system partition and sets up the boot loader. <s>THIS is where the memory leak happens</s> (on QEMU 2.8 and below), but you really don't need anything big for this, just make a 5 MB partition to get it done as fast as possible.

When we're done with that, exit and run the following:
cd:\mips\setupldr

From then on, it installs pretty much exactly like x86 NT. Make sure you skip the disk scan, go through the setup, and congratulations, you'll have a working NT MIPS environment!

==Software==
Windows NT 4 MIPS, surprisingly, has quite a bit of software ported over to it. Below are links to ported softwares and original software designed for the system.

The '''Collaborative Virtual Machine''' (also known as '''CollabVM''', '''Collab VM''', or '''collab-vm''') is an open source project which allows users to collaboratively control one or more virtual machines through an online web interface using a turn-based queue system, typically for around 18 seconds per person. The twist is that anyone can hop in and use any of the available virtual machines at any given moment, and do whatever they want, so long as they abide by the CollabVM Rules.

The current concept and project was inspired by the website [[socket.computer]], but the CollabVM project adds many more features on top of the existing features such as a chat room, an [[Admin Panel]], logs, and more. The website was created by [[Dartz]], and the software was coded and written by [[Cosmic Sans]], [[Dartz]] and [[Geodude]]. And since the server software is open source and publicly available, you can download it for free [http://github.com/computernewb/collab3 here]. Currently, the latest version of collab-vm-server is 1.2.11, but it will eventually be replaced with CollabVM 3.0.

==What it is==
The site allows users to control a virtual machine. The site runs several virtual machines. The list are as follows: (updated sometimes)

[[CollabVM#Official VMs|'''Official VMs''']]

There are other sites running the CollabVM software that also run other operating systems, like MS-DOS, Windows 98, Debian, etc, and soon, users will be able to host their own VMs with their own operating systems (this has been already done with UserVM).

The site is powered by Guacamole and [[collab-vm-server]]. The site features a chatroom, where users are able to type messages to each other. The purpose of the chat is to share ideas on what to do on the virtual machine, although it can be used for pretty much anything.

When you login to the website, you are given a [[Guest|generic, anonymous guest name]] (typically guest (string of 4-6 numbers)). Server owners can recompile the server with a different name, so it may be different depending on the CollabVM site you're using. You can change your name if you so desire (by clicking the "Change Username" button) or you can leave it as the default guest name.

To take control of the virtual machine, first, either press the Take Turn button or click/tap on the screen. You will then be assigned a place in line. You will either get control of the virtual machine, or you may have to wait until another users turn is finished before you can take control. If the CollabVM site you are using has a new enough version (1.2.10 or higher), you may end your turn at any moment by pressing the End Turn button to either let someone else receive control or you feel that you have used the machine for long enough. If there are others in the queue, they will receive control after you have ended your turn.

To check who is currently taking a turn, you can scroll to the user list and look for any blue or yellow names. If their name has a blue background, that means they are currently in control of the virtual machine. If their name has a yellow background, this means they are currently waiting to take control of the virtual machine. If they have no color, that means they aren't doing anything. When you press the Take Turn button or click/tap the screen, if someone is also taking a turn, you will receive a timer which indicates how long you have to wait.

'''Please note''': ''While the site is not explicitly for 18 and up, if you are under the age of 18, you need permission from your guardian, (or parent) as anyone can do anything on the virtual machines, including opening pornography and other NSFW things. There is a warning blur which blurs out the screen before you can see it.''

== History ==
The invention of the concept of a public collaborative virtual machine that others could use through the internet is hard to pinpoint. This concept seems to have existed as early as mid 2004, with a user of a forum posting an IP address and a password for a VNC server, claiming it was "open for anyone to use". The concept of collaborating with people through a virtual machine can be traced back to 2010, and the concept of users taking turns to collaborate with a VM online can be traced back to April 2014, the official release date of [[socket.computer]].

CollabVM was inspired by the website [https://web.archive.org/web/20150210201435/https://www.manymo.com/ Manymo], which allowed users to run an Android virtual machine in a web browser, but is no longer available.

=== CollabVM 0.01 ===
'''July 11, 2014 - February 18, 2015''' - ''spanning 6 months''

CollabVM 0.01 (originally named "Browser Computer") started in July 2014, as a fun experiment. Instead of a virtual machine, it ran in an actual, physical machine running Windows 95, with a basic node.js script to simply connect to a VNC Server that was running with no password. This version did not have turns - if there were more than 2 users on the VM at once, they would have to use the chat to collaborate or try and fight for control. The page in question was also not hosted on [http://computernewb.com/ Computernewb]. The project was later reconfigured to connect to a remote QEMU session due to people constantly turning the machine off, closing the VNC Server, or destroying the machine. It was fairly unpopular, with only around 5-6 unique people controlling it every 2* weeks or so. The project was closed off in November 2014, but would later be reborn in February 2015.

=== CollabVM 1.0 ===
'''February 18, 2015 - July 28, 2015''' - ''spanning 5 months''

CollabVM 1.0 (known as the [[Socket.io|Socket.IO]] Era to some) was the first popular iteration of CollabVM, and the second overall. Although initially unpopular, it exploded in popularity in April 2015 after being posted onto Reddit. It ran the [[socket.computer]] engine, but had a few modifications in place, the screen was scaled, the laptop image was removed, an administrator panel was modded into it, and two exploits (one being an exploit which allowed anyone to run arbitrary QMP commands) were found and then later fixed.

CollabVM 1.0 ran 9 different operating systems in its life span, which includes: [[Windows 95|Windows 95 OSR2]], [[Windows 98]], [[Windows 2000]], [[Windows Vista|Windows Vista Home Premium]], [[Windows 7|Windows 7 Home Premium]], [[Windows 7|Windows 7 Ultimate]], [[Windows XP|Windows XP Professional SP2]], and then [[Tiny7]].

The site had a Xat chatroom (ID
computernewb
) embedded into the bottom, as well as an online counter which showed how many people were online. Later, this was added to the server itself. It was replaced with CollabVM 1.1 on July 28, 2015.

=== CollabVM 1.1 ===
'''July 28, 2015 - March 24, 2016''' - ''spanning 8 months''

CollabVM 1.1 was the third iteration of CollabVM. This iteration was a very important milestone in CollabVM's history as it was when the new C++ rewrite of [[collab-vm-server]] 1.1 done by [[Cosmic Sans]] was officially out of beta and released onto the site.

CollabVM 1.1 brought the brand new engine that is still in use today, as well as removing all of the vulnerabilities of [[socket.computer]], as well as making it much faster and without any fuzz. The Xat chat was initially removed from the page, but was later added back after high demand. This version also introduced some webapp features still found on the site like the NSFW warning and other things.

It has ran two operating systems in its time which includes [[Windows 7|Windows 7 Ultimate]] and [[Tiny7]]. Later, an update was released for it. Later on, it brought several new features to the table, including a new Bootstrap 3 theme, a brand new HTML5 chat (powered by CollabVM 1.1's chat feature), the Online Users list (also a new 1.1 feature), the virtual keyboard (using Guacamole's Keyboard), the FAQ, News, Rules, and other pages, as well as many other new features.

This was also the first version of [[collab-vm-server]] that [[Experimental VM]] ran. On December 29, 2015 a new server (LunaNode?) was purchased which ran [[QEMU]] far better than the old one. On October 18, 2016, the binaries for CollabVM 1.1 were released.

=== [[CollabVM 1.2]] ===
'''March 24, 2016 - February 17, 2020''' - ''spanning 4 years''

CollabVM 1.2 is the fourth iteration of CollabVM. This iteration included several updates to the existing 1.1 core, and added some new features. These features included the Vote Reset, which allows users to reset the virtual machine even when an admin is not online (now users could simply vote reset instead of potentially waiting for hours for an admin), support for multiple virtual machines, a brand new homepage which showed the current running virtual machines along with screenshots of them running, an issue that let users impersonate others was fixed, and the turn counter now counted how long you had to wait.

Later, on June 15, 2016, another huge and highly anticipated feature was added to CollabVM 1.2; the Virus Farm, also known as the CollabVM Agent. The Agent allows users to upload any file to the machine its currently running on via VirtIO Serial, and more. The agent was designed to be very easy to enable and disable, so a CollabVM could easily be converted into a Virus Farm node, and vice versa. On October 18, 2016, another huge milestone for CollabVM was made - the server's source code as well as its binaries were publicly released, making the project fully open source.

On December 12, 2018, a Windows port of [[collab-vm-server]] 1.2.8 was made available by [[CHOCOLATEMAN]] and modeco80.

=== [[CollabVM 2.0]] ===
'''February 17, 2020 - June 2, 2020''' - ''spanning 4 months''

CollabVM 2.0 is the fifth iteration of CollabVM. This version was originally planned to be 1.3, although since it was renamed to 2.0 since it shares none of the old code from the original server. This iteration includes several updates including stability updates, more modern libraries, VNC and RDP support, full VNC and RDP audio support, accounts, native Windows support, and more.

It was dropped from being used on the official instance on June 2nd 2020 due to being extremely unstable, XSS, an overabundance of bugs, Ceiridge's crash exploit, and a million other exploits.

=== [[CollabVM 1.2|CollabVM 1.2.10+]] ===
'''June 2, 2020 - When 3.0 releases''' - ''spanning ∞ years''

CollabVM 2.0 was way too unstable to be used as a full time version, so we switched back to 1.2. Going back, we actually got more features in the "post 2.0" updates, such as JPEG support, bugfixes and stability.

In February 2021, the last official version of the CollabVM 1.2 server was released, 1.2.11. It uses Boost.Beast for WebSockets, similar to CollabVM 2.0, but it's infinitely more stable than CollabVM 2.0.
'''When 3.0 releases - May god have mercy on your wretched souls'''

CollabVM 3.0 is going to be the successor and a complete rewrite of 1.x and 2.0, and started development on August 25th, 2021. It is a major overhaul compared to CVM 1.x and 2.0. Some of the things that will happen in this update include:

: Guacamole is going to be replaced
: WebSocket-- replaced
: CloudFlare support (possibly)
: Switch to the CMake build system
: Restoration of the internal HTTP server
: Addition of a plug in system

== OSes that barely work ==
* Windows 8.0 RTM - Runs extremely sluggish since the VM only has 512 MB of RAM, you also will have to patch the SSE2/NX/PAE check out, and enable auto logon since the login screen does not work without SSE2. Internet Explorer does not run.
* Windows 98 - This OS seems to have a lot of issues in VMs in general for some reason, lots of BSODs and locking up, you will have to run
!reboot
a lot, but it ''is'' installable and will work once you get through the setup. [[Install QEMU Tablet Driver on Windows 98|See this page to install the mouse]].
* SerenityOS - WindowServer fails to start
* QNX 6 - Runs fine but non-functioning mouse despite USB stack and USB mouse module for all HCIs running.
{{DISPLAYTITLE:How to install Windows NT on MIPS in QEMU}}

==Notes==

==Starting up==
First, download the following file and extract it somewhere: http://web.archive.org/web/20150809205748/http://hpoussineau.free.fr/qemu/firmware/magnum-4000/setup.zip

==Installation==

==Software==
Windows NT 4 MIPS, surprisingly, has quite a bit of software ported over to it. Below are links to ported softwares and original software designed for the system.

VM7 is a VM that debuted in December 2021. The VM allows any user to install any OS they want, either through Lily or Dartz's ISO folder or from a website using
!httpcd (url)
. A list of them can be found at [http://computernewb.com/~dartz/isos http://computernewb.com/~dartz/isos] and [http://computernewb.com/~lily/ISOs http://computernewb.com/~lily/ISOs].

There is also an alternate version of VM7 for older operating systems you can use, called VM8. [[VM8|You can view the article for it here.]]

Users interact with the VM through a bot named [[AnyOSInstallBot]]. Another way users can interact with the VM is the default [[iPXE]] which is named "CollabVM iPXE", a custom version of iPXE. This iPXE version behaves similar to vanilla iPXE, VM8 does not have this however.
==== Doesn't work at all ====
* FreeBSD - 64-bit panicks due to something with APIC and 32-bit gets stuck on "Timecounters tick every 10.000 msec"

== Facts about VM7 ==
* Due to the high requirements of Windows 11, attempting to insert the ISO will insert "Windows 7 Haunted Edition" instead.

* [[AnyOSInstallBot]] may not be present sometimes due to it being offline or an admin kicking it (Possibly due to abuse of the bot)

* [[Forkies]] usually come on VM7 to eject the CD through [[AnyOSInstallBot]] or type !reboot in the middle of an install or when you are using the system. (They mostly change the CD in the middle of an install)

* Another retard thought [[AnyOSInstallBot]] was a shell script, and tried to execute a script to delete the user directory but failed horribly.

* An extremely common occurrence on VM8: People tend to try and install 64-bit OSes on Install Any OS ('''OLD OSES'''), which is 32-bit. It always seems like they read "older OSes" and think "It's just a clone of VM7" and try to insert his Pissta or Server 2008 CD into it.

* Most people that come on here don't know how to use part of the
boot.netboot.xyz
menu. They choose Windows, load the installer from nothing (boot with no base URL) (''Keep in mind, that choosing Windows expects you to load WIMs from a remote source''), leave the base URL blank when they are PROMPTED to put something there, load it again, leave the base url blank, try changing the architecture, and repeat.

== Tips for both VM7 and VM8==

* You are better off using this VM when no one is there (Join at like 1:00 AM EST), because I guarantee you one faggot is gonna come, insert his Pissta or Server 2008 (or maybe CHOCOLMOS) CD and install that over whatever you are installing.

* People enjoy installing operating systems that are already their own VMs. Instead of doing that, try installing some really obscure OS or a bootleg from Crustywindows.

* If you want to install Windows 7 on VM7, Consider doing !lilycd WinCHOC.iso, it's literally a [[CHOCOLATEMAN]] themed version of Windows. Make sure to select Ultimate during setup.

* If you don't want to wait so long for
!reboot
, you can alternatively open the webapp OSK and soft reboot the virtual machine by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

* When booting, go to iPXE command line and type in
exit
, this way you don't have to wait for iPXE to tell you that there is no network devices then let you boot to CD or floppy.

* The best bootset order is
nad
. Why? Not because that's a word for testicles, but because by using the sanboot command in iPXE, you can still boot to the hard drive by typing in
sanboot -d 0x80
.

==== Doesn't work at all ====
* FreeBSD - 64-bit panicks due to something with APIC and 32-bit gets stuck on "Timecounters tick every 10.000 msec"

== Facts about VM7 ==

== Tips for both VM7 and VM8==

* The best bootset order is
nad
. Why? Not because that's a word for testicles, but because by using the sanboot command in iPXE, you can still boot to the hard drive by typing in
sanboot -d 0x80
.
VM8 is the 2nd Installfag VM in CollabVM however it has lower specs. This is meant to be compatible with older operating systems that cannot run on VM7. The VM was announced on December 30th, 2021 by [[modeco80]]. The VM comes with a Pentium 4 CPU, 512 MB of RAM, and 6 GB of hard disk space.
[[File:Youpeople.png|thumb|right|<s>How to get REALLY verified in the CollabVM Discord (REAL) (NOT CLICKBAIT) (THE DARTS ALMOST WALKED IN ON COSMIC AND GEODUDE KISSING) (IT WAS HOT) (LONGEST OF ANSWERS)</s> This technique is now OBSOLETE, due to a new addition to the CollabVM Discord server, being the CVMBot that can now automatically verify you by using the slash command "/verify".]]

The '''[[CollabVM]] Discord''' is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, and the central place to talk about [[CollabVM]] and [[CollabVM]] [[Forkies|accessories]]. It was first created by [[Vanilla|Novella]] in late 2016(?), but was later transferred to [[Dartz]] and made official. In the near-end of December 2018, the Discord Server officially closed down, and you can only enter with a private invite.

The server remained fairly small, both servers being <100 members.

Then in mid December 2019 the server reopened. Then on September 24th 2020 the Discord got terminated and now a CollabVM Discord 2 exists, and then the server went public and people started joining it left and right. Now you have to pass a verification system to get access to the server. Keep in mind that you have to say your age, or else you get kicked from the server.

Currently there are over 750 members in the server.

== Tutorials ==
[[CollabVM_Discord/Joining_Without_a_Shitstorm|CollabVM Discord: Joining Without a Shitstorm]]

== Other Discord Servers ==
There are still some other CollabVM Discord servers, all of which are dead and you should not join. Here is a non-complete list:

; CollabVM - forkie land
: Owned by Vanilla. Meant to be used as a public server before the Official Server opened up. No active moderators.
; Collaborative Virtual Machine
: Owned by Matthew. Dead, and new members can't post in #general because you need a manual role.
; "Official Secondary Server"
: Only mentioned in this old reddit post. Invite link is dead.
; CollabVM Republic
: Owned by Technoturnovers. Deleted due to inactivity.
; The Turnover Lounge
: Owned by Technoturnovers. Deleted during forkie rage

== Moderation ==

The Discord is moderated by a moderation team which consists of the following people: [[Technoturnovers]], [[CHOCOLATEMAN]], [[Hildaboo]] and [[modeco80]].

Pretty much every moderator has access to the [[Admin Panel]]. Since Dartz is never online, all of the decisions and moderation are done in a very anarchy-like manner by general consensus. Essentially, if everyone hates you, you get b&. And oh, you will never be admin. Ever.

== Channels ==
This is all of the (publicly available*) channels in the CollabVM Discord 2: Electric Boogaloo Discord server.

=== Landing ===
; #announcements
: For when an admin wants to ping for no reason about some dumb shit
; #rules
: The imaginary and unenforced rules of the Discord. Has more than 4 rules!
; #joins
: If you want to see what type of people join the Discord, then check that channel out. You're not going to enjoy it. Trust me.
; #verification
: The very first channel you enter to get verified in the server. Not too many people seem to get successfully verified though... (Protip: !verify IS NOT A VALID COMMAND AND WILL NOT WORK. WHY? BECAUSE YOU ARE A FUCKING RETARD)
; #how-to-verify
: A specific channel only viewable to non-verified members that intends to guide one on how to properly get verified, that rarely gets read
; #updates-of-the-hub-of-git
: Where the GitHub webhook for any and all commits and specific actions to
collab-vm-server
(and forks of it) and other official Computernewb repositories (previously did Gitea).
: Otherwise the prime venting channel to argue about bad code and how bad Cosmic is at programming and make fun of [[Yellows111|yellows111]] for being unable to program or use a computer.
; #hotsex-123
: Throne Of Youself? Long Answer
; #dartboard
: A channel dedicated to storing of pinned messages by the Starboard bot
; #support
: The main support channel for CollabVM related help such as configuring the CollabVM Server. You will almost never find anyone who actually gets their problem fixed.

=== Chatrooms ===
; #public
: Where you and your friends go to shitpost and talk about CollabVM
; #vidya
: The channel for all things vidya
; #development
: The channel to talk about programming and other topics related to programming (And no, Batch, VBS and "visual"/block """programming languages""" (t. [[HiAsm]]) are not programming languages)

=== Storage ===
; #cool-things
: Discuss about non-CollabVM related stuff
; #collabvm-txt
: For posting the most autistic moments of CollabVM
; #dartzs-inbox
: Where you can view the often magical and bizarre emails that [[Dartz]] of [[Computernewb]] receives
; #copypasta-central
: Post all your copypasta's here
; #music
: For posting music
; #quotes
: For posting funny CollabVM quotes
; #spicy-memes
: For just posting memes in general
; #vnc-resolver
: Stare at the screen typing +vnc for 5 minutes, then get bored and leave.
; #glorified-rss-feed
: This channel, and you also, receives cool shit like Steam/GOG/<s>EGS</s> game promotions primarily from the Terraria Discord server
#free-stuff
channel.

=== Aids ===
; #cosmic-sans-simulator
; #suggestions
: BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN
; #spam
; #nsfw-spam
; -> #femboy nsfw stuff
: :youcannotpossiblybeserious:
; #public-bots
: Self-explanatory. Waste hours there entering NotSoBot tag commands like "Avatarroulette" or "Tiktok" or "Thewhat" or even "Thedarts", or rather you could just
&caption get real
some random trending Tenor GIF.

== Roles ==
=== THE PIPELINE ===
There are exactly 4 pipeline roles (which are part of the infraction roles) in total. (not including the other infraction roles)

Where most people who will (un)willingly participate in the pipeline begin:
;

Verified
: (Other roles can go here, otherwise you're just verified for the first time.)

; ->

;

retard
;

negative iq
;

mallow from sm<nowiki>:</nowiki>rpg
;

todd howard of bethesda games

After you have some or all of the pipeline roles (not including other infraction roles), you will end up getting a specific punishment. Usually, you'll get unverified or kicked, or banned if you've been really bad. You can sometimes get a second chance if you appeal, but depending on what you did, who you are, the mood of the moderation team or some other factors it may not work out well for you.

;

autistic timeout

There exist infraction roles that can ban you from talking in certain channels, like these ones. The descriptions for these roles will link to the corresponding channel it is supposed to hide from whoever happens to have the role.

;

cant fucking program
: #development
: #collabvm-txt

== Tips for both VM7 and VM8==

* The best bootset order is
nad
. Why? Not because that's a word for testicles, but because by using the sanboot command in iPXE, you can still boot to the hard drive by typing in
sanboot -d 0x80
= OS Compatibility Reference Sheet for VM8 =
== OSes confirmed to work on VM8 ==
* Tiny7
* TinyVista
* Windows XP - While it is perfectly normal (except when shutting down or rebooting), you should just use VM2.
* Windows 2000
* Windows 95, 98 and ME - ME works the best somehow while on 95 and 98 you have to do modifications to make it run good.
* Windows 3.11 - Use qemumouse.img from Lily's ISO directory for working mouse.
* Windows 1.0
* MS-DOS
* ReactOS
* Any 32-bit GNU/Linux distribution
* eComStation and OS/2 - Everything is fine aside of USB-tablet
* 9front
* Minoca
* GNU/Hurd
* Xenix
* Many hobbyist OSes although some don't have support for the RTL8139 or just doesn't support USB-tablet

== OSes that barely work ==
* Windows Vista, 7, 8.1, 10 - Will work if you load a 32-bit slim ISO. 8.1/10 barely runs since it only has 512 MB of RAM. If you're trying Win10, use earlier builds, otherwise it won't respond.
* SerenityOS - WindowServer fails to start
* QNX 6 - Runs fine but non-functioning mouse despite USB stack and USB mouse module for all HCIs running.

== OSes that do not work on VM8 ==
=== Doesn't work properly ===
* Windows NT 3.1, 3.5, 3.51, 4.0 - BSODs on setup; Most likely due to early NT Kernel, You can install it manually using DOS. Another method is by using QEMU to install it directly to the hard drive.
* JX, Ghost Kernel - Requires a PS/2 Mouse or you can't utilize the OS not even with keyboard shortcuts.

=== Doesn't work at all ===
* NewOS, ArcaOS - Locks up at booting due to KVM
* OpenSolaris, UnixWare, OpenServer - Bootloops
* Windows 11 - Will not boot at all unless Microsoft releases a 32-bit version.
* Tiny10 - Boots but gets stuck.
* Windows Vista betas (Longhorn, post-reset) - Massive graphics issues (VM7), would likely not work at all.

== Untested OSes ==
* Windows 8
* Windows Vista betas (Longhorn, pre-reset)
* Windows Whistler
* Windows 2.x - Tip: qemutab.img has a usb-tablet driver for 2.x, use it for working mouse.
* Everything else

==Notes==

==Starting up==
First, download the following file and extract it somewhere: http://web.archive.org/web/20150809205748/http://hpoussineau.free.fr/qemu/firmware/magnum-4000/setup.zip

==Installation==

An important note: If you don't properly set the clock, Windows NT will set the date to January 1, 1601 at 5:00 PM.

==Software==
Windows NT 4 MIPS, surprisingly, has quite a bit of software ported over to it. Below are links to ported softwares and original software designed for the system.

"'''Kitting'''" is an act of sending massive amounts of mouse and keyboard input and moving the mouse at extremely high speeds and velocities, therefore "bouncing" around the screen very rapidly. This causes undesirable actions to happen to the computer and thereby make the computer unusable. The most known user that uses kitting is [[Andrej Akan]].

== Bouncer ==
As the title suggests, Bouncer "bounces" (moves at extremely high speeds and velocities) the mouse around the screen, and rapidly clicks and right clicks everywhere, making the VM unusable. This utility is also called "Kit" which is named after its author, but that's not how it's really called. There is another tool named Bouncer, however that one is a skidded C# bot by [[Andrej Akan|jjjj]] and that's completely unrelated.

People who utilize Kit are named Kitfags.

== History ==
{{stub|section=yes|sectionname=History}}
Kit was made by.... someone named "Kit"! the original developer named it Bouncer but most people called it by the developer's name and that's why it is named Kit.

It has been weaponized quite a lot of times really and used to annoy everyone. Kit also may be the cause the removal of tunnel() which previously let you chat, vote, take turns and etc using JS code, while it is still possible to recreate some or even all, only 1 has done it.

In later years, Andrej Akan catfished DFU/Brandan to get the source code of the Kit implementation in [[Collabbot|CollabBot]]/polishbot, Andrej's has been going circles (and still is) when he got it. Andrej has also "leaked" the bot 2-3 times before.
Mvhttps://computernewb.com/w/index.php?title=CollabVM_Server_1.x&diff=718CollabVM Server 1.x2022-05-19T09:23:55Z
Mv: i'll try to (re)port CVM-server 1.2.11 on Haiku, Illumos, NetBSD and OpenBSD later this week or next one

The '''CollabVM Server''' (collab-vm-server), latest version 1.2.11, is the current version of CollabVM Server. It is an open source server that currently powers [[CollabVM]], the Virus Farm, and most mirrors of CollabVM. It can be considered the "heart" of CollabVM.

Currently, the server runs on Linux, BSD, and Windows-based operating systems. It is known to work on Debian, Ubuntu Server and Desktop, as well as the Red Hat (CentOS), openSUSE and Arch Linux line of Linux distributions. Version 1.2.8 adds support for FreeBSD and Windows XP and up. It should also work on Android (using Termux), MacOS, Haiku, GNU/Hurd, and ReactOS. Version 1.2.9 readds a cut feature (admin username colors), a crashing vulnerability fix and improvements against automated attacks. Version 1.2.10 completely turns the CollabVM core back on its head with a whole slew of new admin abuse features, core bugfixes, improvements and et cetera. Version 1.2.11 replaces some core libraries, and maybe some bugfixes here and there. Make sure to stay tuned for [[CollabVM Server 3.0|3.0]]'s release!

==Minimum Requirements==
*RAM:
**Linux: 128 MB of free RAM on the server (Recommended: 2 GB of free RAM)
**Windows: 32 MB of free RAM on the server (Recommended: 2 GB of free RAM)

*Processor:
**Any modern CPU of any architecture should work. VT-X is recommended (not required).
*Space: 40 MB for collab-vm-server (Recommended: 4 GB of free space, for VMs and such)

*QEMU:
**QEMU 0.10 (Recommended: At least QEMU 5.0 or whatever's the latest version)

==Operating systems==

===Linux===
collab-vm-server 1.2.11 will run on any distribution, as long as it is running Linux kernel version 2.6 or above. If your distro version was released after 2006, you are absolutely running something beyond this version.

====Arch Linux====
Use whatever's the latest version.

====CentOS====
Requires at least CentOS 2.1. CentOS 7 or above is required for any support.

====Debian====
Requires at least Debian 3.1. Debian 8 or above is required for support.

====Fedora====
Requires at least Fedora 2. Fedora 30 or above is required for support.

====Gentoo====
Use whatever's the latest version.

====Linux Mint====
Requires at least Linux Mint version 1.

====Slackware====
Requires Slackware 12.0 to run. 13.37 or above is required for full technical support.

====Ubuntu====
Runs on every Ubuntu version from 4.10 to 20.10. At least 14.04 is required for technical support.

===BSD===
====FreeBSD====
*Use FreeBSD 12 or above.

====NetBSD====
*Use NetBSD 9.1 or 8.2. Older versions may have problems. 1.2.11 without any source code modifications will throw an error on QEMUController.cpp

===Haiku===
*collab-vm-server <1.2.11 runs on the latest nightly build of Haiku, but it is rather difficult to build and very unstable. Some libraries need to be compiled and linked manually.

===Solaris===
====OpenIndiana/Oracle Solaris====
*collab-vm-server <1.2.11 should be possible to compile and run on OpenIndiana and Oracle Solaris. I'm not sure what the oldest version that would work is so it's probably safe to use the latest version.

===Windows===
*Currently the oldest Windows version known to run CollabVM Server is [https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/758747469835534340/769260060463202374/nt4cvm.png Windows NT 4]. There is currently an [[CollabVM Server 1.x/Windows Port|experimental]] Windows port that requires Windows Vista SP2 and above, compiled from MSYS2. There also exists a Cygwin package which will run on Windows XP SP2, but the versions for XP require the IPv6 stack to be installed. Windows 7 or 10 is recommended.

*collab-vm-server can be compiled and run on MSYS2, which is what the current experimental Windows port is compiled with. This requires Windows Vista SP2 or above.
*collab-vm-server can be compiled and run on Visual Studio 2017, which requires Windows XP SP2 or above and the Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio 2015 runtimes installed.
*collab-vm-server can be compiled and run on Cygwin, which requires Windows Vista SP2 or above, although its also possible to compile it on older versions, the oldest of which runs on Windows NT 4.0 SP6. The public Cygwin build needs Windows XP SP2 or higher.
*collab-vm-server can also run on the Windows Subsystem for Linux, which is included in Windows 10, Windows Server 2016, and Windows Server 2019.

===ReactOS/Wine===
*ReactOS: Use the Cygwin collab-vm-server package. Use 0.4.13 or the latest debug build for the best results.
*Wine: Not sure what the minimum version is but it will at least run on the Wine provided in Ubuntu 18.04.

===MacOS===
*collab-vm-server should be possible to compile and run on MacOS. I'm not sure what the oldest version that would work is, so it's probably safer to use the latest MacOS.

== Bouncer ==

== History ==
{{stub|section=yes|sectionname=History}}

And since Andrej Akan catfished DFU/Brandan to get the source code of the Kit implementation in [[Collabbot|CollabBot]]/polishbot, Andrej's has been going circles (and still is) when he got it. In fact, Andrej also leaked the bot 2-3 times before.
Mvhttps://computernewb.com/w/index.php?title=File:Guntohead.png&diff=644File:Guntohead.png2022-05-18T13:24:41Z
Mv:

== Overview ==
The '''CollabVM Official Discord''' is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, and the central place to talk about CollabVM and CollabVM accessories. It was first created by [[Vanilla|Novella]] in late 2016(?), but was later transferred to [[Dartz]] and made official. In the near-end of December 2018, the Discord Server officially closed down, and you can only enter with a private invite. Then in mid December 2019 the server reopened. Then on September 24th 2020 the Discord got terminated and now a CollabVM Discord 2 exists.

The server remained fairly small, both servers being <100 members.

At some time, the server went public and people started joining it left and right. Now you have to pass a verification system to get access to the server. Keep in mind that you have to say your age, or else you get kicked from the server.

Currently there are over 700 members in the server.
== Moderation ==

Ever.
'''CollabBot''' is a custom-made Discord bot by [[Dartz]] for the [[CollabVM Discord|Official CollabVM Discord]]. It is currently on version 1.05, and was created on June 19, 2018. The original purpose wa>

== Functionality ==
CollabBot commands are followed by the prefix +, and the bot currently only has access to the #collabbot channel on the official CollabVM Server. Other servers may vary. The +help output is as follows:

List of commands:
;'''+changelog'''
: Will pull up a list of recent changes.
;'''+exec (command)'''
: Will execute any valid Linux command you put in, although this sometimes may not work - try +reconnect or starting a vote reset
;'''+help'''
: Will show the help dialogue (todo: make it so you can type +help (command) to get info on a command)
;'''+invite'''
: Will give a link to add CollabBot to your server.
;'''+ports'''
: Will list the currently open ports on the VM.ver.
;'''+password'''
: Will post the default password for the machine.
;'''+reconnect'''
: The bot will attempt to reconnect to SSH. Try using this if commands are not working.
;'''+reset'''
: Reset the VM to a clean state instantly without waiting for a vote reset. (CollabBot Admins only)
;'''+rules'''
: View the rules for the bot
;'''+screenshot'''
: Takes a screenshot of the open VNC and posts it to the server. (Requires image posting permissions)
;'''+ssh (ip) (port) (username) (password)'''
: Connects the bot to the specified SSH server. Example: +ssh computernewb.com 24 dartz somepassword (CollabBot Admins only)
;'''+vnc'''
: Prints a randomly insecure VNC server that was found by CollabBot. A new insecure VNC database is uploaded every few months.
;'''+votereset'''
: Works just like CollabVM - it starts a vote reset to reset the VM to a clean state.

Due to the limitations of Discord, text is very limited and may result in garbage output, as well as there being no support for graphics beyond the VNC screenshotting. Because text output is limited to 20>

The bot is not limited to the CollabVM Official Server - it can be invited onto any Discord server. Some commands may be limited on non-CollabVM servers. The invite for CollabBot is here: https://discorda>
==CollabBot 2.0==
An updated version of CollabBot, CollabBot 2.00, is currently in development. It is mostly rewritten and has new code and a few new commands. The new commands are:

;'''+commands'''
: Basically the same as +help on CollabBot 1.

;'''+randomcolor'''
: Generates a random hex color

;'''+help (command)'''
: Gives a detailed description on a certain command. This is not the same as +help from CollabBot v1, that has been renamed to +commands.

;'''+ping'''
: Bot will respond with pong. Can be used to test if the bot is online/responding to commands.

;'''+serverinfo'''
: Gives information about the current server

The following commands have been updated:
*'''+exec''' - Now informs you if there is an error with ssh instead of just blanking out. Also uses color.
*'''+rules''' - Rules are now much more detailed and colorful.

And since Andrej Akan catfished DFU/Brandan to get Kit source from [[Collabbot|CollabBot]]/polishbot, Andrej's has been going circles (and still is) when he got it. In fact, Andrej also leaked the bot 2-3 times before.
Mvhttps://computernewb.com/w/index.php?title=Kit&diff=634Kit2022-05-18T13:04:24Z
Mv: ah ok
