What is Windows 2000?[edit]
Windows 2000 is a consumer operating system by Microsoft, released on December 15, 1999, for both client and server computers. It is the successor to Windows NT 4.0. It comes in five different versions, each with their own software and licensing:
- Professional
- Server
- Advanced Server
- Datacenter Server
- Powered
The operating system was highly praised because of its stability and usability. Many still swear by Windows 2000 and consider it the most stable Windows operating system even to this day. Windows 2000 introduced NTFS version 3.0, Encrypting File System, basic and dynamic disk storage, disability usability improvements, and support for more languages. It also has additional features including the ability to provide Active Directory services.
