CHOCOVIRUS 98 is the sixth installment in the legendary CHOCOVIRUS series. It coexists alongside CHOCOVIRUS 5. Like CHOCOVIRUS 5, it is not written in Batch but is instead written in VB6 and as such it works on pretty much every Windows operating system, provided it has the VB6 runtimes installed. It is currently not finished and is in development.
Amazing, wonderful features
- Background changer
- This payload drops a file (if it doesn't exist) to the C:\ drive named "choco.bmp", which will set the background of the VM to "Tiled", with a picture of a CHOCOFACE with a red background. It will replace any existing wallpaper. This payload works on both Windows 9x and Windows NT.
- Boot logo changer
- This payload changes the boot logo to a parody image of Windows 98, but the Windows flag has a CHOCOFACE on it and the text reads "Microsoft CHOCOVIRUS 98" instead of "Microsoft Windows 98". This payload currently only works on Windows 9x.
- OS Detection
- CHOCOVIRUS 98 comes packed with a brand new OS detector built in, which it can utilize to allow specific payloads to activate only on e.g. Windows 95 or Windows Vista.
- Policy rapist
- This payload sets a ton of policies on the VM. Unfinished - this doesn't work on Windows NT yet. On Windows 9x it only sets a message on bootup.
